  • No experience within the last 10 years in which to base this on. I and all my siblings went here and it was a good school then. Five stars for nostalgia.

  • I give this school a lot of credit in most areas. Roseville is a major step up from East Detroit (it's far more culturally balanced and more personal because of its smaller size). Mrs Williams and the crew do a pretty damn good job with rewarding children and promoting good behavior (and hell, putting up with our little brats all day long). The only reason I could not give this system a 5 is that it has failed in the transportation department (in my own expirience). It is mighty convenient that a bus comes nearby to scoop up children, but during the last winter I had just had my baby via surgery and wasn't able to venture outside for long. The driver was very unforgiving and would either be early to the point where the bus was missed 1-2 times a week (my son and I timed this sucker out so that we didn't have to stand outside forever) or she would be late (leading me to believe she had already blown by. These mix-ups do happen I suppose, but couple that with the fact that she was also rude as hell to me (I can credit that to my son's goofing around one too many times I'm sure) and that for as small of the amount of kids there were, I felt she kept a weak eye on them all. Most of the violence and foul language occurred here. The icing on my complaint cake was during the winter months when kids are required to bundle up with winter gear, my son would hardly make it to or from school without missing something (regardless of how many talks I had with him). I feel as if the driver should be more aware of students walking off of the bus stripped of such items as we the parents are no longer available to huff and puff about it. Her lack of action resulted in ill feelings between Patton and I as CPS became involved because of the assumption that I didn't properly dress my child (that and my son's lack of ability to keep his lips carmexed). What made me the most upset is that there was no communication about such, until I got a knock on my door from some suited woman asking to invade my dwelling (to which, who in the hell wants these clowns snooping around? P.S. The case was immediately dropped). That being said, my son did well last year and they did a superb job handling his needs once he was there. They also offer neat things (like starter packs for Kindergarteners), free lunch, and awards for good behavior. The few events I made it to weren't bad either. I just sent my son off onto the bus for another year here and noticed a new driver~ fingers crossed. On another note, that Lisa's review down there is extremely ignorant and I am sorry to have read it. It was unnecessary for her to associate skin color with class or social ability (bet she didn't once assume that one person's reaction was because of her actions).
